Coming soon ~ Jules Coffee ~ !

...Jules' Raya Tins were a big hit! Ahamdulillah... While Petra, Jordan and Casablanca are still happy at play, Alexandria made her last debut on 5th Syawal... :)... Thank you so much to all Jules wonderfully loyal patrons, for your kind and continued support. With Alexandria making her exit, Jules Fudgies are now presented in Earth Tones again and cool platters (for strawberry or bling embelished), while I continue my search for new and attractive baking dishes.

Just to share with you, I use Alexandria, Petra, Jordan and Casablanca to serve Raya cookies at home this year; and I've also applied these tin designs to my 4 tier mangkuk tingkat (tiffin), in which I also serve Raya goodies!

Back to baking dishes, actually I did find something that I simply fell in love with. As I had told Wiz in one of my treats on her blog (before Syawal), I found this ceramic baking dish for cupcakes, with 6 large cupcake holes, which I think is very interesting. I thot of baking my fudgies as cuppies, but my normal single fudgy capacity would require 2 units of the said cupcake dish. So, if all the costs and packaging work out favourably, I will perhaps present my next cycle of fudgies in this said cupcake baking dish...woohoo! I'm tingling with excitement already, coz the dish comes in an assortment of blue, pink, green and brown, and they match perfectly with Jules' Vintage Garden platter (from March 2009)!

And last, but not least, Jules' latest project is... tadaaa!... Jules Coffee! Finally, my greatest Addiction, coffee, materialising... Alhamdulillah, so far I've managed to share with you my love for chocolate via JulesFudgy, my lust for handbags and tins/boxes via JulesAddiction Handbags & Tins/Boxes, my passion for sweetness via JulesDelightfulness, and now, my dependence on the best high in the world...coffee. JulesCoffee is pure Premium Brazilian Black coffee, manufactured by Hicnockey (certified halal), packed in individual sachets, and each sachet makes 1 divine pot of 8-10cups; I get 8 cups from 1 sachet and I take mine without sugar...simply strong and bold... :)

I'll update more on JulesCoffee soon, ie. more background info, price, etc... Meantime, I hope you'll continue to enjoy my Eros Ramazzotti playlist; I would add more songs but my goons insist that I keep it to these 5, coz they're their favourites too! You should be glad that I'm not forced to share my "Ultraman Playlist" with you...!

Jules Raya 2009 Pix

Yess! Finally! Right after my post, I went to FB and my sister had uploaded some pix....
...warming up before the actual pix lineup...

...TokAbah's and TokMama's preciousness...

...heart and soul...

...the clan of 2009, with Kak Titi...

...Love was all around...

...my 2 best gals...Kak Rozy & Medina...

...Joshua luuuuurves Uncle Tam...

...Uncle Joe with Nabil...

I believe there are more fun pix, especially of goons in action! Will upload more soon... :)

Jules after Raya...

...is 20kgs heavier!!! AAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

Hence... the more time I now need to go through whatever photos that were taken during Raya and these past week, before I upload them in here...! Hee hee... heh heh... no lah, not that much vanity at play here...! It's just that, my brother saved the Raya pix in my sister's notebook, and my husband copied them into his pen drive, and his pen drive has been left working on its own at his office (yup, he forgot to bring it home!). So I haven't even actually looked at the Raya photos properly yet, and my sister must not yet have the time to upload them on her facebook, so, I can't possibly share them with anyone yet either. There, phewh! That's the story thus far...

And about me having gained 20kg since 1st Syawal, well, that's how I'm feeling now. Nope, I haven't had the guts to weigh myself properly, too scary, and too weak to accept any such truth, so I don't really know how mcuh I've actually gained, tho it does really feel like at least 20kgs!... But seriously, after all those dodol, lemang, pineapple tarts, sugee, makmur, etc, etc, it IS no wonder that I AM that heavier now...!

Terrible, terrible...! While I feel so heavy and full, I still can't stop the dodol, kuih raya, kek lapis, etc, etc...! Soon, soon... when all the festivities are over...! Hee hee...

While I wait for the Raya pix files to reach me, I'll share with you my boys' current favourite playlist : Eros Ramazzotti's latest album "Ali e Radici". Yup, that's all that goes on in the car these days, Eros, Eros and more Eros! But, who doesn't love Eros?... :) ...

Jules this Syawal 2009

InsyaAllah in 2 days, Muslims will be celebrating Eid Mubarak...

As I say syukur to the Almighty for blessing me, my family, relatives, friends and patrons with good health and fortune, I also think of those who have been blessed with more "different" circumstances. I wouldn't want to call it unfortunate circumstances, coz I believe that the adjective used to describe a person's state of being is actually rather subjective; while one may think it's "unfortunate", the person in that situation may think it's just another ordinary day and that there's nothing wrong about it at all. I've actually been thinking about this for a while, and so today in my post, I figured that I'll share it with you.

Yes, I get involved with various charity drives, the latest being "Say It With Cupcakes", and I get such fulfillment when I believe that I've helped to make their day better than it was yesterday, their lives better than it was before. But, have I really actually made a change in their lives, or have I merely achieved self satisfaction? Coz, when I bring my goons for funtime at the indoor kids playground and they have the time of their lives jumping and summersaulting in the hi-tech, hi-priced facility, I think about the kids who jump and summersault in the dirt beneath their wooden houses on stilts; the latter have the same amount of fun, sweat and joy too, and they don't have to pay a single sen! Or when my goons enjoy their Happy Meals at you-know-where, while the latter enjoy a filling bowl of rice with salted egg or plain 'kicap', are the latter actually in a worse off situation? At the end of the day, I think it's all in the way we appreciate things. Ya, there are children/people living in shacks not safe from the natural elements, and they could do with some 'upgrades', but for all you know, they're not really sad at all with their circumstances, because they have their family with them, mom, dad, brothers, sisters, 'things' that really matter to them, and the 'force' they need to survive...

After the very hectic past few days/weeks, and after harping on the fact that I'm lucky enough to get at least 4 hours of sleep a day, I think I'm just gonna pace things out now so that by Syawal, I would have really quality and meaningful time for myself and with my family. After all, I am just a mere mortal, I alone can't possibly take care of my family and my home, run a business, and save everyone in the world, all at the same time, without at least sacrificing a bit of my own sanity and the equilibrium of my family. I must respect and not ever take forgranted all that God has given me. Some people out there don't even ever get to sleep, and they think they're lives are good enough, for as long as they're still alive...

This Syawal, I am truly grateful for having my life, and a fairly good life too for that matter... I am grateful for my family, that goes without saying... I am grateful for having such loyal friends, without whom I could not thrive... and I am grateful for my growth in Jules... Alhamdulillah... actually, I am grateful for so many other things, but the long list may just bore you out! Hee hee hee...!

My family and I wish all Muslims a safe and blessed Eid Mubarak, maaf zahir dan batin. And to everyone, have a safe and happy, happy holiday ya... :)

Petronas Merdeka 2009 : P.Ramlee ~ Seni Warisan Bangsa

I had started thinking about this year's Merdeka project last year, as soon as "Tunku" was completed. Then, early this year when Juliana Omar suggested 2 options this year, and one of it being our most cherished Tan Sri P.Ramlee, I was elated!

Of course, we went through an exhaustive thought process on both options, but we finally agreed on P.Ramlee. Yess! We thought out various concepts and applications, and finally, based on P.Ramlee's fame on the silver screen... the "Movie Reel Tin".

For as long as I have been servicing Petronas, they have always preferred to offer "kudap-kudapan" as gifts, because, it is at the end of the day, the truly Malaysian thing. Where else in this world are you most often greeted with "Dah makan?"... :) So, whatever the gift's concept may be, it must have "kudap-kudapan".

I researched the early days' movie reel tins and decided on the 35mm, as it would provide a bigger space to fill with goodies. But actual movie reel tins were very slim, coz they were only meant to fit the movie reel. So, I searched and searched and searched some more, and with the help of friends at KerepekLa, voila!... we got the most suitable tin. And, to create an original "P.Ramlee Movie Reel Tin", a fab design was needed, and that's where Tangerine came in.

Research continued, by all parties involved, for P.Ramlee's favourite snacks, sweets, pastime...

My favourite part of all this was visiting the Pustaka Peringatan P.Ramlee. Waaa... it was his old house which had been turned into a mini museum/memorial, exhibiting all his memorabilias, trophies, awards, original transcripts... I was truly impressed and awed by the greatness of his talent. To me, he was truly out of this world. For a mere mortal to have created and achieved all that he had, during that early day and time, simply amazing...extraordinarily amazing... I can imagine what he could create now, today, with all the technology, had he lived...

My mom used to tell me about P.Ramlee, how he used to visit my late TokAyah, Ya'acub Awang, in Pasir Mas, Kelantan, during those heydays... I remember very well my mom also telling me that P.Ramlee had given a pair of his famous white shoes to my late uncle, Mat Zain Ya'acub...it became his prized possesion! And there were also visits by the fab Bangsawan Troop, Booty Suria Negara... As a child, I would listen in awe to all her stories, and dreamily imagined how wonderful it must have all been... And it was my mom who told me that one of P.Ramlee's favourite knick knack was 'asam boi', as the late primadonna Kasma Booty had once told her...

Anyway, fact finding continued, but we knew that where the great P.Ramlee was concerned, his favourite knick knacks and his movie montages alone would not suffice. We needed his music, as his music was a major core of his being. So I asked darling husband, about who owns the rights to his original songs, and he channeled me to EMI/Warner Music, whose P.Ramlee's song library would blow the mind of any P.Ramlee music enthusiast! Oh, and how great were the people at EMI/Warner, namely Hermond and Larry, coz they decided to share with us not just 5 or 6 songs as we were modestly expecting, but 24! 24 solid gold P.Ramlee songs! Woohoo!!! And, in addition to this, Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP) and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) kindly contributed 6 fabulous P.Ramlee instrumentals, in their own original arrangement...all in their continued effort to promote the arts and the enrichment of music. P.Ramlee's music was presented in 2 cds, and placed nicely inside a special book which contains a brief introduction to the great legend, writeups from DFP/MPO and EMI/Warner Music, and lyrics to his 24 fab songs.

We had everything now, it was then time to package them together. Early movie reels had 6-7 holes to fit into the projector. So I decided that we should fit our tin with 6-7 items (in canisters). We already determined P.Ramlee's favourite "kudapan" to be 'asam boi', 'kacang goreng', 'rempeyek', 'keropok belinjau', 'kuih tart nenas'...and he would have 'kopi o' with all these tidbits. And, Juliana Omar also told me, from her interview with P.Ramlee's old comrade, Aimi Jarr, that P.Ramlee loved to spend his free time playing 'dam aji' (checkers). So, voila, the one last element would be 'dam aji'.

So, firstly, at the bottom of the tin, I placed the 'papan dam aji' (checker board), then arranged the 7 canisters in a circle on the checker board, and lastly the book (with the 2 cds) went at the very top, and then I closed the tin. It is "LIFO", last in first out, where when one opens the tin, he or she will first find the book, read through the brief P.Ramlee story, then jump with joy upon discovering the cds (hee hee!), and then continue to open each canister to find the yummy knick knacks, and when the canister with the checkers pieces is opened, it will lead the recipient to the checker board at the bottom of the tin. And, in a few exciting moments, the circle would be complete.

:)..... And that's how seriously I create my gifts... :)

Jules Merdeka 2009

Jeng jeng jeng...! Yup, I'm finally unveiling it! I was actually hesitant about publicising this project out loud, because in previous years I have always kept a tight lip on my Petronas Merdeka projects, respecting their exclusivity. But my dear childhood friend has insisted that I do, and she made it very clear in her comment on my previous post. And honouring the fact that "The Client Is Always Right", :) , here goes...

Alhamdulillah, this year's project was again a sweet success; all the effort, sleepless nights, have paid off :) This was a project under my Giftmagique brand, and it wouldn't have worked out as well as it did without the input and ideas from the brilliant folks at Petronas Corporate Affairs Media Department, and the undying support from friends at Tangerine and KerepekLa, plus all those kinds souls who were never hesitant to help, ie EMI/Warner Music Malaysia (Larry & Hermond), Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, Arkib Negara & Pustaka Peringatan P.Ramlee. Thank you Petronas, for your trust in me, thank you for the opportunity to continually outdo even my own self. InsyaAllah, given the chance, I will keep on reaching for the stars... :)

Full story on the "P.Ramlee:Seni Warisan Bangsa, Movie Reel Tin" in my next post... :)

Jules celebrates 9th anniversary this 0909!

On 1 September 2009, darling husband and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary, Alhamdulillah :). Thank you very much for all the well wishes from Jules family and friends, insyaAllah we look forward to many more years together :)... In conjunction with our 9th anniversary and in support of maintaining a sustainable environment, I would like to share a bit more with all of you, by offering a special shopping bag, for the first 9 orders of Jules Fudgies that come in from 1-9 September 2009. And I already have 4 currently, so, there are 5 more to go. But for each order you will receive only one bag, meaning, if you ordered 5 fudgies, you will get 1 bag, not five, hee hee. This is to spread the joy across the board, I hope you understand. And the first bag will happily go out this afternoon... :)

Moving along, yup, we're almost midway through Ramadhan and I hope I'll be able to put up Jules Raya stuff soon...I've received many enquiries about Jules Raya packaging; I've given a sneak peek of Jules latest Tins, so I will soon show you the contents of those Tins ya... pleeeeease bear with me, thank you, thank you... :)

In the meantime, do enjoy this early part of Jules Raya Playlist, oldies that are my alltime favourites :)
